چکیده
Abstract The uniaxial compressive strength test of hard rock is one the most worldwide applied tests for characterization in engineering and geology. as results this a basic parameter, used, example, design structures. In commonly standards, stress-controlled procedures using constant stress rates are recommended by wide range varying between 2 60 MPa/min and/or specific minimum time. Though effect stress-rate dependency generally known, investigation focused on dynamic action behavior high fast actions. Strain-controlled often used well. For within stress-rates, data base rather poor, effects to reported only very few researchers. research described paper aims close gap focuses rock. Seven different 1 100 five types (quartzite, granodiorite, gabbro, sandstone, basalt) fifteen single per rate have been executed. A significant increase increasing has stated; may not be ignored assessing projects. considered especially when parties involved site programs.

Using the Point Load Test to Determine the Uniaxial Compressive Strength of Coal Measure Rock
Point load testing is used to determine rock strength indexes in geotechnical practice. The point load test apparatus and procedure enables economical testing of core or lump rock samples in either a field or laboratory setting. In order to estimate uniaxial compressive strength, index-to-strength conversion factors are used. These factors have been proposed by various researchers and are depen...
متن کاملRadon Release from Underground Strata to the Surface and Uniaxial Compressive Test of Rock Samples
The mechanism and critical conditions of rock failure in underground coal mining processes have attracted great attention. Based on the origin and properties of radon gas, we propose that radon release from underground strata to the surface occurs in two stages, i.e., the formation of free radon and the migration of radon gas. Due to its optimal combination of efficiency and low background meas...
متن کاملApplication of Geostatistical Modelling to Study the Exploration Adequacy of Uniaxial Compressive Strength of Intact Rock alongthe Behesht-Abad Tunnel Route
Uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) is one of the most significant factors on the stability of underground excavation projects. Most of the time, this factor can be obtained by exploratory boreholes evaluation. Due to the large distance between exploratory boreholes in the majority of geotechnical projects, the application of geostatistical methods has increased as an estimator of rock mass pro...
متن کاملthe effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)
cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
Investigating the Effect of Specimen Diameter Size on Uniaxial Compressive Strength and Elastic Properties of Travertines
Uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) and elastic properties of rocks play a major and vital role for the design of any engineering structure. The specimen diameter size is one of the main factors that influencing on UCS, elasticity modulus and Poisson’s ratio (E and υ). Here, an attempt has been made to investigate the effect of specimen diameter size on UCS, E and υ. Moreover, we studied the co...
